Langkawi Island Swimming & Snorkeling - First Visit Pulau Tasik Dayang Bunting - another beautiful Langkawi islands. Furthermore this island is located about 17.6 km from Kuah. However it's the second largest island within the archipelago. In addition Pulau Dayang Bunting was named "The Island of the Pregnant Maiden" as inspired by the legends which surround the lake or by the physical appearance of the island itself which resembles the belly of a pregnant woman.
Furthermore the legend is that the lake bestows fertility, although not scientifically proven, only enhances the mystery that surrounds the island. Tasik Dayang Bunting is the largest fresh water lake in Malaysia! Separate from the sea by a very thin ridge of limestone. Visit Pulau Beras Basah (Island of the Wet Rice). Pulau Beras Basah literally means Island of Wet Rice. It features lush, mysterious jungle with mountains looming in the background. You can expect to see spectacular sights like the breathtakingly beautiful beach with its white powdery sand and blue-green waters.
Besides the inviting powdery-white sandy beach and the lush verdant backdrop, the waters around Pulau Beras Basah also offer other interesting propositions. This includes the school of playful dolphins (estimated to be about 50 at the last count) and the hundreds of eagles, which are so used to being fed by the boatmen as a show for the gawking throngs of tourists.
The dolphins are quite elusive and make their appearance only occasionally. You can do some jet skiing (additional charge) snorkeling, swimming or simply relax in the sun. Watch out for monkeys at the beach! Snorkeling at Diamond island among beautiful tropical fish living in the coral gardens. Pulau Intan Kecil is uninhabited, with a pristine white sandy beach and translucent waters to lure visitors.
It is great to spend a day at this lovely island. Trek the mangrove forest reserve via boat and learn about its ecology, medicinal plants, migratory birds and role in nursing juvenile marine life. Langkawi's coastal zone is fringed with extensive mangrove forests sprawling over 3200 ha. Mangrove habitats mammals as long tailed macaque, duskily leaf monkey, squirrels and others.
In addition there is lot of bird such as eagles and herons, reptiles such as lizards, crocodiles and reticulated python and fishes ranging more than 40 species including crap. Furthermore visit floating modern fish farm and local fish farm and fishing village. Therefore our boat will drop you at the floating fish farm in a secluded cove surrounded by high vertical limestone and granite cliffs.
You will have a wild time hand-feeding the rays. However, there is also a number of sea creatures kept in the 'tanks' but we shall not reveal too much - it's well worth the trip. Feeding the serama - The Malaysian Serama Bantam is the smallest and lightest bantam chicken in the world and often described as a living work of art. Feeding to the eagles is a spectacular, exciting experience and photo opportunity for all. Our boat will cruise to a very beautiful and special spot where you will have a chance to see a flock of eagles swooped in from nowhere.
The amazing thing about these magnificent predators is their precision. Circling eagles swoop down with their sharp talons fully extended as they pick the pieces of chicken meat nimbly off the surface. They skim over the water's surface effortlessly before flying off into the trees to feast on their 'catch'. There are various types of eagles here; the Brahminy kites (46cm) arrive from all directions. These raptors are generally chestnut brown in color, and white on the head and breast.
The White-bellied Sea Eagle (71cm) is the largest of the species present. The sea eagle's head and under parts are white with grey back and wing-coverts. Its impressive wingspan lifts the eagle high above the crowd and is usually spotted soaring in higher altitudes. These birds are the lords of the skies. Langkawi (Lang = eagle and kawi = reddish brown stones found here) is named after the Red Eagles that have made their home in the crags and crevices of the islands long before any human set foot ashore.
